We get plenty of action, suspense, and romance. Now enter the hunk, the man, who has been hunting down a killer named Monk. I loved the premise of the tough, analytical girl working in the basement of the FBI. Though the romance portion started slow, it heated up quickly.
We are experiencing technical difficulties. Happy to see John Paul Renard again — he was great in Mercy.
I’ll be picking up the rest of her thrillers, count on it. No stupid misunderstandings, either. Julie Garwood has created a female Hannibal Lechter, a woman so evil that readers will root for her downfall.
I saw another revelation in the horizon. It was an average good read. John Paul and Avery had potential to be a great couple, but I didn’t feel connected to them on a romance-level.

Her razor-sharp mind and ability to gather data and decipher evidence garood made Avery an expert crime analyst for the FBI. I’m not really sure what it was that didn’t do it for me, but there was just something lacking.

In this breathless new novel, Julie Garwood has written her most electrifying thriller to date. Feb 20, Miss Kim rated it it was ok Shelves: Overall, the book was pretty enjoyable. Intimate conversation in the cabin, especially about Avery’s scars, and her inability to bear children.
Overall a good read but ended kinda abruptly. I love all of her books but the historical ones are my favorite. Garwood created a somewhat sympathetic villain, lonely, alone, and hungry for love.
