Switching between narrative prose and play script, this is Faulkner’s fauokner sequel to his earlier bestseller, Sanctuary. A strange book even to come from the pen of the unpredictable Nobel prize winner. Here, on the one hand, he seems to have taken on the mantle of the ancient ofin long passages hymning the march of Now this was strange: Faulkner’s always trying to push the envelope here.
It follows Temple Drake after her appearance in Sanctuary, but it’s not as exciting of a read. There are better Faulkner books out there. Born in in New Albany, Mississippi, William Faulkner was the son of a family proud of their prominent role in the history of the south.
He grew up in Oxford, Mississippi, and left high school at fifteen to work in his grandfather’s bank. Rejected by the US military inhe joined the Canadian flyers with the RAF, but was still in training when the war ended.
